| BAPTISM
PREPARATION We
ask that the parents of each child to be Baptized attend an instruction
class which will include some important information regarding the
Sacrament and prepare everyone for the Ceremony itself.
Godparents may attend if they wish, but are not required to attend.
The instruction meeting takes place at 8:00 P.M. in the Parish
Center, 158 Street, next to the Rectory.
THE
BAPTISM The Baptism of your child will take place in the Church at 2:00 P.M. We ask that you arrive fifteen (15) minutes before-hand. This is a joyful communal celebration and so we encourage you to invite as many family and friends as you wish.
GIFT
TO THE CHURCH It
is customary to make a donation to the Church in the name of your child as
an expression of thanksgiving for the gift of entrance into God's family
and as a symbol of your family's commitment to the parish where your faith
and that of your new-born child will be nurtured.
The amount of that gift is left to the discretion of each family. GOD
BLESS YOUR FAMILY AND YOUR CHILD NEW-BORN IN THE FAITH |
THE PARISH COMMUNITY Through Baptism your child becomes a member of the Body of Christ - the Church - in this parish community of St. Andrew Avellino. We expect that every member of the parish be registered at the Rectory. It is important that we know who our parishioners are in order to be of service to them. It is also the responsibility of each member of the parish to be active and involved in the life of the parish. St. Andrew Avellino is a tithing parish - that is, each member is expected to share time (especially on Sunday at Mass), talent (through the various ministries and activities of the parish) and treasure (contributing 5% of their income to the parish and its many works of ministry). If you are not registered, please do so and consider how you will share of your time, talent and treasure.
